This week, I was in Baton Rouge for a visit and decided to call up my good friend (and cousin) Casey for lunch before I headed back home. We decided on The Londoner on S. Sherwood Forest Blvd. Being that it was a rather London-like dreary and rainy day in The Red Stick, I think the choice was perfect.
In true British fashion, we started off with a round of pints, both opting for an English brew, Monty Python Holy Grail Ale, which is a pale ale produced by Black Sheep Brewery in North Yorkshire, England.
For our meals, we both were indecisive between Fish and Chips and Shepherd’s Pie, so we each ordered one and let the other sample. I chose the Shepherd’s Pie since I had never actually tried it before, and am I so glad I did? Quite. It was everything I love about comfort food baked into one scrummy (delicious) dish.
Casey’s Fish and Chips were equally delectable. Perfectly beer-battered strips of cod and a homemade tartar sauce that may have been the best I’ve ever had.
After nearly devouring every inch of our plates, I remembered that when we were still deciding on what to order, Casey informed me there was one dessert we could not pass up. So, adhering to his demand… for afters (dessert)… Fried. Bread. Pudding.
It was so irresistable, we may have taken a bite before the picture was taken…oops.
Thanks for reading! Cheerio, darlings!

Holy Schmoly that looks good
I so love London pub grub. Shepherd’s Pie is so rustic, yet so delicious. Of course, you know I adore a good plate of fish and chips. That fried bread pudding looks divine–wish I had some right now! Great blog today! <3
